Learn About Foods That Cause Staining Faster

by Harold Coleman

There are so many foods that can cause your teeth to stain quicker than normal that it can be hard to memorize them all. This is why it's better for you to learn how to spot when a food can lead to teeth staining, so you can look at a food and just know that it should be avoided, or that you should at least brush after eating it. Here are some of the signs you want to be aware of that can indicate a food contains teeth staining agents:

The food is artificially colored—When foods are colored with the use of artificial coloring, it can cause them to be big culprits with regards to teeth staining. Some good examples of foods that are artificially colored and can really stain your teeth include colored cake frosting, powdered fruit drinks, colorful candies and many others. Basically, if a food is processed and it is colorful then you can figure that it is artificially colored.

A drink has a dark base—Drinks that are dark in color are generally known for staining teeth. These drinks include ones like brown teas, coffee drinks, red wines, colorful fruit juices and colorful punches. Drinks can be even more threatening to the color of your teeth because you tend to drink them without thinking about brushing your teeth shortly after. With foods that are known to cause staining, people usually keep it in mind that they should rinse, chew sugarless gum or brush soon to avoid that staining.

The food has a high sugar content—Foods high in sugar can cause staining because they leave a sticky film on teeth that causes any other foods or drinks with color to stick right to them when they are consumed. Sugary foods don't have to have staining colors themselves to increase the staining that occurs for this reason.

The food is made with a tomato base—There are many foods out there that are made with a tomato base and those foods can quickly stain teeth. The tomato paste base will stain teeth quicker than a lot of other foods. Some examples of a few of the many foods made with this base include spaghetti, pizza, lasagna, ziti parmesano, and more.

By learning how to spot staining foods by the way they are made or the things they contain, you will have a much better chance of keeping your teeth whiter longer. However, you need to realize that no matter what you eat you will need the occasional whitening treatment in order to keep your smile as white as you like it to be. About Me

Dental Veneers Changed My Life

I have never liked my teeth. I had a lot of dental problems, including deep staining and oddly shaped teeth. Every tooth did not have the same shape, and some were rounded while others were more square. Not surprisingly, I never smiled in pictures and not even much in real life. This left people thinking I was mean before they even met me. My dentist told me my best bet to improve the look of my smile was a set of porcelain dental veneers. He said they could make all my teeth white and the same shape. I said I wanted them without any hesitation, and we scheduled my procedures. I love my new teeth, and they really did change my life. I created this blog to help other people living with teeth they don't like realize that they do have options that can improve their smiles and their lives.
